Your Language Creates Your Reality (with Heather Hakes)

Episode #113

Tiffany Toombs, joins me for this weeks topic: your language creates your reality. I’ve touched on this before and that is, what you speak about, you bring about. Your subconscious mind doesn’t know the difference between real and imaginary or positive and negative.

The overall topic here is NLP. NLP stands for neuro-linguistic programming. In short, NLP is the connection between neurological processes (neuro-), language (linguistic) and behavioral patterns learned through experience (programming). I realize that’s a mouthful.

The good news – your wiring or past experiences can be changed. Once you uproot your early (oftentimes negative) beliefs about something and then change the language by framing in a positive light and speaking of only what you DO want, you can achieve specific goals.

First Step to Rewiring Your Behavior

According to Tiffany, self awareness is the first step. For example, if you constantly find yourself procrastinating, you have to ask yourself questions to know why. Do you feel that you’re not good enough (for end result), do you have worry, doubt or fear of failure?  Then, you have to go deep – where did this seed get planted?

This may sound difficult but it’s not. By figuring out the root cause of a behavior you can begin to make changes. It normally comes down to changing your story – more on this in this previous post

Language is Powerful

The words that you are using literally create your reality. Tiffany shares some words it’s time to remove from your vocabulary: don’t, can’t, try, hope

It’s equally important to filter what you’re consuming. This goes for what you listen to, read and what you scroll through on social media.

When it comes to goal setting, so many focus on what they DON’T want and wonder why they get more of it. Perfect example – debt. Most people don’t want debt or want to get out of debt. By speaking of debt, you can only create more debt. Instead, flip it – focus on increasing your money flow. Creating more abundance.

It’s important to focus on opportunity rather than lack. Your words and thoughts are tied to emotions. What you emit, you get more of. Choose wisely.

Final note, focus on what you do want, change your language, and know your desire is coming. All you have to do is allow and take inspired action.
